No, the depositing institutions do not have ownership of the archives. The archives become the property of the National Records Centre and Archives, however, the principle of original order and provenance is observed which recognizes the creator and original owner of the archives.

The MDA/LG is free to consult the archives at the National Records Centre and Archives, and in some instances photocopying some   sections of a file is allowed.
