The Minister of Public Service, Hon. Wilson Muruli Mukasa, together with the State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo, and key stakeholders, convened a meeting at NRCA to present, discuss, and agree on the way forward regarding a report on the impact of salary enhancement on the motivation, performance, and retention of secondary school teachers in Uganda. The discussion highlighted several key findings, including growing dissatisfaction among Arts teachers, rising applications for early retirement from Science teachers whose salaries were enhanced, declining commitment and productivity among some secondary school teachers, and instances where teachers are hiring private tutors to cover their lessons. The report was developed through a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Public Service and Makerere University

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Service, today chaired the Senior Management Meeting, which deliberated on several key matters, including the Ministry’s Client Charter, Service Delivery Standards, and the status of preparations for the upcoming Public Service Transformation Programme (PSTP) Leadership Committee meeting, among others.
